Hi, I’m Bianka Gimbut - an English and French teacher based in Warsaw.

As Starry ESL, I specialise in Cambridge exam preparation, especially B2 First (FCE) and C1 Advanced (CAE), and in crafting modern and thought-provoking lesson plans and materials for fellow teachers working with intermediate and advanced learners.

Why Cambridge exams?

I genuinely love the structure of Cambridge exams. They feel like a mental workout – a strategic, intellectually stimulating game that trains both your language and your thinking. I’d be thrilled to guide you through this process, sharing all the tips, strategies and mindset shifts that can transform your English and help you express yourself with clarity, nuance and precision.

Why am I qualified to help you?

First of all – because I’ve been there too.

I’ve prepared for numerous exams myself, including FCE, CAE and DELF B2, so I understand the challenges, the nerves and later on the satisfaction that the candidates feel.

Moreover, I hold French examiner qualifications so I know exactly what examiners are looking for – and how to help you deliver it.

Finally, as a freelancer, I’ve been building an extensive library of materials tailored to Cambridge exam preparation – and I can’t wait to share them with you!

How it all began

My journey as a teacher started in 2021, quite unexpectedly. What was meant to be a temporary job at a language school soon became so much more – a calling, a passion and, honestly, the thing that gives my life meaning.

A year later, I launched Starry ESL – first as a little corner to share my worksheets and now as a growing online space where I teach, create and connect with learners and fellow teachers. Somewhere along the way, I also began my teaching studies and met a wonderful community of teachers that continues to inspire me every single day.

Who I've worked with

Over the past few years, I’ve taught and completed internships in a wide range of settings – public and language schools, in Poland and France, hybrid, in person and online, with groups, pairs and individuals. These diverse experiences helped me become a flexible, creative and attentive educator.

Now, at Starry ESL, I focus on 1:1 lessons that are carefully crafted for you – your needs, your style and your goals.
